Description

We offer an alternate education learning experience for families in the Barrie area, with a primary focus on learning outdoors and in conjunction with nature. Our teachers are previous Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) employees with over 10 years of experience in the school board, and have made the choice to create a new learning environment for our next generation of free thinking leaders.

Our program offers a unique opportunity to bridge old educational systems with a new forward thinking and intentional educational experience. We provide programming for families that are looking for a more balanced approach to learning; with a focus on outdoor skills and respectful connection with the land and nature. Our program is a beautiful enrichment opportunity for current homeschooling families AND current enrolled elementary school families.

We take traditional learning outdoors and focus on nature based curriculum, while still placing importance on language acquisition (reading, writing, critical thinking) and mathematics through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities. Our hands on approach gently encourages students to step out of their comfort zones and build confidence and self worth through collaboration and exploration. Creating a safe space for our children to learn and grow is of our utmost importance. We are intentionally ensuring the space to allow children to be children.

We also regularly welcome special guests to lead us through specialized teachings and workshops (some recent examples are: fermenting food, using essential oils, music lessons, baking lessons, nature guides, paper making and yoga)

Our current program runs Tuesdays & Fridays in Barrie, and Thursdays in Baxter (9:30-3:30)

Kindergarten to Grade 4 is our current focus, however we are looking to create junior programming based on interest and enrolment

Snacks, learning materials, special guest workshops and all craft/activity/baking supplies included in the fee below.

$75 a day ($65 a day for sibling enrollment).

Payment is due on the 1st of each month.

Please Note: We also accept equal exchange of energy, goods and services as payment for the program (ex: farm grown food, meat, homemade cleaning products, honey, wool wear, specialty items, in person cleaning services, teaching of a workshop/specialty area, etc).

Supporting local businesses is important to us!
